The attribution of this species to the Eastern Shore (Accomack Co.) in the Flora of Virginia (p. 1037) was based on a mapping error in the Digital Atlas that has now been corrected.
Habitat
Depression swamps and ponds, boggy clearings, and peaty alluvial swamps. Rare in the inner Coastal Plain south of the James River (Greensville, Prince George, and Sussex counties); disjunct to sinkhole ponds in Augusta County in the central Ridge and Valley region.
