Comments
On the Northern Blue Ridge, where this species is most frequent, populations bloom in June, a month or more before Platanthera psycodes begins to flower. However, see Comments under P. psycodes about phenological variation in that species.
Habitat
Mesic cove forests, seeps, and seepage swamps; mostly in base-rich soils but sometimes in distinctly acidic habitats. Rare in the mountains.
