Knapp et al. (2022, Phytotaxa 522(2): 242-244) found no morphological differences between plants of western North America named Juncus tweedyi and plants of north-central and northeastern North America traditionally called Juncus brevicaudatus. They further established that the name "tweedyi" has priority over "brevicaudatus."
Habitat
Bogs, seeps, sphagnous pond edges, and beaver meadows, mostly at higher elevations. Rare but locally common in the mountains.
