A southeastern Coastal Plain endemic that reaches its northeastern limits in Gloucester Co., Virginia.
Habitat
Calcareous seeps, seepage swamps, and groundwater-saturated edges of impoundments and alluvial swamps; restricted to the bottom of inner Coastal Plain ravines that have downcut into Tertiary shell deposits or lime sands. Infrequent and local, but sometimes locally common, in the c. and s. Coastal Plain; known from Gloucester, James City, Surry, Sussex, and York counties and the city of Hampton.
