Habitat
Roadsides, highway medians, and around outcrops in limestone pastures. Infrequent to rare in the mountains (Ridge and Valley province). Represented by several recent (2008) collections from the Interstate 81 corridor. The original 1979 Frederick County record is from a grassy stream bottom with the tantalizing name "Buffalo Marsh Run", reminiscent of the species' native habitat in the Midwestern prairies.
