A tough-rooted, rapidly spreading exotic that has increased greatly in ruderal and disturbed, open habitats over the past ten or twenty years. Probably throughout southeastern and east-central Virginia, though not yet represented by vouchers from all counties.
Habitat
Roadsides, cultivated fields, weedy clearings, and waste ground. Frequent in the s. and c. Coastal Plain, rare in the se. Piedmont.
