See Comments under Sporobolus ozarkanus. As shown by perusal of synonymy, Sporobolus neglectus, S. vaginiflorus, and S. ozarkanus form a poorly understood complex of closely related taxa that needs additional study.
Habitat
Dry limestone and dolostone barrens, cliffs, outcrops, and rocky fields and pastures. Rare in the mountains; apparently introduced to the City of Alexandria (Washington, D.C. metro area) in railroad aggregate.
