- Stems of E. prostrata arch slightly upwards compared with E. maculata which hugs the ground closely. Otherwise, the habit is similar. Plants suspected to be E. prostrata from casual observation should be checked carefully. Seeds of E. prostrata are sharply quadrangular with well-demarcated cross ribs.
- Habitat
- Roadsides, fields, and crevices in pavement. Rare throughout. Most records are from the n. mountains and Piedmont, but this species may be overlooked and under-collected because of its similarity to E. maculata L.
