A narrow-leaved Amsonia, often called var. A. tabernaemontana var. salicifolia (Pursh) Woodson or A. salicifolia Pursh, occurs in states to the south and southwest of Virginia. It has been alleged to occur in Virginia, but an examination of images of all specimens from the state on the SERNEC portal indicates that all of our material is typical A. tabernaemontana.
