- Interdune swales and ponds, maritime swamps, sea-level fens, tidal oligohaline marshes and shrub swamps, waterfowl impoundments, and other disturbed wetlands. Common in the maritime zone and Embayed Region of the outer Coastal Plain; rare elsewhere on Coastal Plain.
