Discovered by J.C. Ludwig in unique "sea level fen" natural community and reported as new to Virginia in Castanea 61:94 (1996).
Habitat
Groundwater-saturated, sea-level fen situated at the upper border of a brackish tidal marsh and just above the limit of tidal influence. Rare, outer Coastal Plain; known from a single site in Accomack County.
