In various wet to moist or, sometimes, dry, sandy habitats, including seasonally exposed shores, pond edges, interdune swales, ditches, and clearings. Frequent in the s. and c. Coastal Plain, n. to Accomack, Middlesex, and King William counties; rare in the adjacent se. Piedmont.
