Habitat
Roadsides, clearings, disturbed forests, disturbed outcrops, alluvial fields, flood-scoured bars and shores; increasingly appearing in forested settings, especially following disturbances such as logging or windthrows. Currently frequent to locally common in the northernmost Piedmont counties; scattered elsewhere in the northern half of the state, but highly invasive and evidently increasing its range.
