Although it has delicious, much sought-after fruit, this shade-tolerant Asian raspberry is one of the worst invasive shrubs in the rich, mesic forests of our mountains and n. Piedmont, and occasionally elsewhere.
Habitat
Mesic to dry-mesic (rarely dry) upland forests, clearings, old fields, and roadsides; especially abundant in base-rich soils. Common in the mountains, inner Piedmont, and n. Piedmont generally; infrequent (sometimes locally common) elsewhere.
