The hybrid Sarracenia × catesbaei (S. flava x purpurea) has been reported from a few sites in Virginia where both species occur or occurred.
Habitat
Historically in bogs and wet savannas; now persisting only in sphagnous power-line seeps and other boggy clearings. Rare in the s. Coastal Plain, south of the James River. This species has also been introduced at some sites within its native range, as well as a few outside of it, e.g., in Caroline County.
