A narrow, Southern Appalachian endemic reaching its northern limits in the Balsam Mountains of southwest Virginia.
Habitat
Mesic cove forests, rich northern hardwood forests, and seeps, primarily at high elevations. Restricted to and infrequent in a small area of the Southern Blue Ridge in and around the Balsam Mountains (Grayson, Smyth, and Washington counties).
