Comments
A Southern Appalachian endemic, in the past sometimes lumped under Cardamine clematitis. Two varieties are often recognized; most, if not all, of our material is var. flagellifera. Var. hugeri (Small) Rollins) is questionably attributed to Virginia.
Habitat
Rocky mesic forests, limestone talus, stream banks, and rocky seepages along the New River. Rare in sw. Ridge and Valley; known only from Giles, Grayson, and Pulaski counties.
