Comments
Viola x primulifolia (lanceolata x macloskeyi) is sometimes taken up due to a lack of morphological distinction between the hybrid in the Great lakes region and "true" V. primulifolia of the Atlantic Coast region. Species status seems preferable here.
Habitat
Bogs, seeps, seepage swamps, mafic fens, sea-level fens, wet flatwoods, sphagnous pond margins, boggy clearings, and small-stream floodplain forests on acidic soils. Frequent to common in the Coastal Plain and outer Piedmont; infrequent in the inner Piedmont and mountains.
Native Status
Native
