- The occurence of Wolffia borealis in Virginia is suspect. Virginia is not included within the range of this species as given in FNA, Vol. 22. Specimens so labeled are known from Montgomery and Powhatan counties, and do display the pigmented cells of this species, but this character is also shared by the more likely Wolffia brasiliensis. Given the difficulty of assessing frond shape on dried material, the status of this species awaits confirmation with fresh specimens.
