Reported as an escape from cultivation in several northeastern states. Potentially invasive.
Habitat
Reported by Steury (Banisteria 37, 2011) from "beech woods along Little Hunting Creek" near Mount Vernon, Fairfax County; more recently found to be a locally common escape in mature forest understories at Fort Belvoir, Fairfax County, and at Barcroft Park, Arlington County.
