- This Japanese tree definitely escapes from plantings but it remains to be seen whether it will become truly naturalized. Reported as an introduction in several northeastern states north of Virginia.
- Habitat
- Roadsides, forest edges, and disturbed forests. Reported by Steury (Banisteria 37, 2011) from Arlington and Fairfax counties. Also documented in Bedford and Chesterfield counties.
