According to FNA, this is a common species of the Southeastern Coastal Plain, from Delaware to Texas. It is known in Virginia from one western Piedmont location, considerably inland from the Coastal plain, and one eastern Piedmont location.
Habitat
On bark of Carpinus caroliniana near Beaverdam Creek, Goochland County (M. Quinn 284 at URV); on bark of dead Liriodendron tulipifera (tulip-poplar), NE of Roinoco, Amherst County (J.B.
