- First documented in Virginia in 1960 by R.R. Ireland, whose duplicate collections are at DUKE and NY. Rediscovered in 2022 at the only known site, Big Meadows Swamp. The Ireland collections were mistakenly assigned to Page and Shenandoah counties but Big Meadows Swamp is entirely in Madison County.
- Habitat
- In 2022, plants were found on small hummocks of sedges and tree roots on the edge of Big Meadows Swamp. Thus far plants have not been found in similar microhabitats elsewhere in the swamp, but most of habitat has not been searched. The 1960, the habitat was described as "in water in swamp" (R.R.
