- Native of Asia, sometimes cultivated in North America, and reported as an introduction in several southeastern U.S. states. Accounts of this plant on internet horticultural forums indicate that it can become very invasive and difficult to eradicate.
- Habitat
- Collected as an adventive escape from cultivation in several counties. There is a similar, unvouchered occurrence in the City of Chesapeake. Currently, the largest population in Virginia is located near Middleburg, Loudoun County, where thousands of plants have escaped into wet ditches near plantings.
