See Simmons et al. in Castanea 85: 277-284 (2020) for the first report of this species in Virginia and in North America. Acorus gramineus is an Asiatic species, several cultivars of which are common in cultivation. In 2019, it was found to be adventive along a suburban, northern Virginia stream in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Habitat
Several small colonies on sand and gravel bars along Taylor Run, City of Alexandria.
