Comments
Discovered new to Virginia in September 2022 by Zach Bradford, growing in the Grafton Ponds complex on The Peninsula. A native of Asia, the species is thought to have been introduced early to the southeastern United States in association with rice. It is a problematic weed in rice plantations throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Fimbristylis littoralis had been previously documented north through the Coastal Plain of North Carolina, and should be looked for elsewhere in southeastern Virginia

Seasonally flooded ruts in a low powerline right-of-way through flatwoods.
