Comments
First reported in Virginia from Southampton Co. (J. Perry, et als, 1998, Castanea 63:191-194). A second, very large population was recently discovered by Darren Loomis at False Cape State Park, suggesting that this species may be becoming more widely established.
Habitat
Open disturbed wetlands, wet roadsides, borders of tidal marshes. Rare, s. Coastal Plain; known from sites in Southampton County and Virginia Beach City but may be more widespread than records indicate.
