- Comments
- Strictly a colonial shrub of generally drier and less fertile habitats than T. radicans var. radicans, although it sometimes occurs on basic rock outcrops. Its non-climbing habitat and velvety-pubescent, obtuse-lobed, somewhat oak-like leaves distinguish it from its more common relative.
- Habitat
- Dry, often rocky or sandy forests, woodlands, and barrens; tolerant of a range of soil chemistries and rock types. Infrequent throughout, but locally common in some xeric sandy areas (e.g., sandhills and maritime dunes) of the Coastal Plain.
