Comments
A new southernmost native occurrence was found in 2008 along the New River in Wythe County; also indigenous in Craig County and along the Potomac River west of Washington, D.C. Commonly cultivated, however, and may be persisting or spreading from plantings elsewhere.
Habitat
Rich alluvial forests. Rare, mountains and Piedmont; known from Meadow Creek in Craig County, the New River in Wythe County, and the Potomac River in Fairfax and Arlington counties.
