- The two vars. of Calycanthus floridus are controversial; they may have been more geographically and morphologically distinct prior to centuries of cultivation and cross-breeding.
- Habitat
- In Virginia, var. glaucus is rare in coves, mesic slope forests, and small-stream bottoms of the sw. Piedmont and southern half of the mountains. Like var. floridus, it also occurs as a cultivated escape.
