The transfer of this species to the genus Kellochloa is based on the work of Nicola et al. (2015): Nicola, M.V., M.A. Lizarazu, and M.A. Scataglini. 2015. Habitat
Bogs, acidic seeps, wet flatwoods, depression swamps and ponds, interdune swales and ponds, moist to wet clearings, and other low open habitats in acidic soils. Common in the Coastal Plain; infrequent and local in the Piedmont and mountains.
