Habitat
Dune grasslands, openings in dune scrub and woodlands, upper beaches and overwash flats, sandy estuarine river shores, sandhill woodlands, and dry sandy clearings. Common in the maritime and lower estuarine zones of the Coastal Plain; rare in sandhills and other sandy areas of the inner Coastal Plain.
