- Tidal freshwater marshes and mud flats, natural sinkhole and depression ponds, interdune ponds, calcareous marshes and muck fens, sluggish streams, floodplain pools, and impoundments. Common in the Coastal Plain; infrequent in the Piedmont and mountains.
