Long known from relatively nearby in West Virginia, Hypericum ellipticum was not found in Virginia until 2010 on Back Creek, west of Lantz Mountain by Irvine Wilson and Steve Roble.
Habitat
High-elevation stream banks and wet meadows with abundant seepage; habitats formerly grazed by livestock. Rare, mountains; recently discovered at a site on Allegheny Mountain in w. Highland County.
