Habitat
Seasonal ponds, wet depressions, and acid swamps. Widely distributed, but not common in the Coastal Plain of southeastern Virginia; an isolated population occurs in a large, peaty sinkhole pond in the Shenandoah Valley (Augusta Co.), in association with several vascular plant Coastal Plain disjuncts (Wieboldt 9279 at VPI).
