Comments
Native to Europe. Scattered individuals and small populations were found on several small limestone glades near Lexington in June and July, 2014. The species is reported from West Virginia near Brandywine, Pendleton County (Flora of West Virginia, p. 1047). The Virginia location is the southernmost for the species in North America. Gray's Manual describes the habitat northward as dry, limy pastures.
Habitat
Known only from disturbed areas on xeric limestone flatrocks near Lexington, Rockbridge County. Rare, mountains (RIdge and Valley province).
