The very few collections of this moss are from diverse habitats of the mountains and Piedmont, including the summit of Whitetop Mountain (~5500 ft elev), the Little Stony Creek/Cascades area of Giles County, Sinking Creek Mountain in Craig County, and Great Falls of the Potomac River in Fairfax County (Biodiversity occurrence data published by CHRB, DUKE, NY, VPI.
