Comments
This invasive exotic tree is reported as new to Virginia in Castanea 83(2):300-304 (2018), establishing a new northeastern range extension. The species is common in the Southeast from North Carolina south to Florida and west to Texas. It is classified as a noxious weed in some states.
Habitat
Swamp forests, typically. The Virginia station is described as a seasonally inundated Nyssa biflora swamp.
