- The Louisa County station currently represents the northern range limit on the Atlantic slope, as the species is reported to be extirpated in both Maryland and Pennsylania. Although uncommon here, this Hypericum can be quite weedy and associated with disturbed habitats where found. It is more common south of Virginia and in the Midwest.
- Habitat
- Fields, dry clearings, rock outcrops, barrens, and exposed, eroding areas. Infrequent to rare in the far s. Piedmont and the mountains of extreme sw. Virginia, disjunct by several counties to a powerline near Mineral, Louisa County.
