- Habitat
- Northern hardwood forests, high-elevation cove forests, high-elevation seeps and seepage swamps; occasionally in Northern Red Oak and spruce-fir forests. Infrequent and local in the mountains (all provinces); locally common, however, in a few of the highest-elevation landscapes where northern hardwoods are prevalent (e.g., Allegheny Mountain in Highland County; Balsam Mountains in Grayson, Smyth, and Washington counties).
