- Habitat
- Freshwater to oligohaline tidal marshes, tidal swamps, maritime swamps, and, less commonly, alluvial swamps. Infrequent to locally common, often forming extensive colonies, in estuarine zones of the Coastal Plain; rare elsewhere in the Coastal Plain.
