- Comments
- This species was formerly lumped under a broad concept of Fimbristylis dichotoma (L.) Vahl by some sources (e.g., Radford, Ahles & Bell 1968), and a few herbarium specimens are still labelled as such. As currently circumscribed, F. dichotoma is probably an introduced Asiatic species (FSUS, Weakley et al. 2023), and there is no hard evidence that it occurs in Virginia.
- Habitat
- Thin soil on granitic and mafic outcrops, seasonally wet clearings, fields, depressions, and ruts; usually in alternately wet and dry, hard clay soils. Frequent in the s. Coastal Plain and se. Piedmont; infrequent elsewhere in the Coastal Plain and Piedmont; rare in the mountains.
- Native Status
- Native
