- This Cyperus is a mat-forming perennial from extensively creeping rhizomes. Introduced from e. Asia, it is quite weedy and has become more common in Virginia during the past few decades.
- Habitat
- River shores and sand bars, freshwater tidal marshes, tidal shores, moist to wet pastures, fields, ditches, lawns, and low roadsides. Infrequent throughout, but apparently spreading rapidly; may form large colonies where found.
