- Comments
- Plants that have been called Cynodon affinis have been collected in Fauquier County (Allard 5382, 5573, and 7990 at US). Virtually all current taxonomic sources consider this synonymous with C. dactylon. Although FNA recognizes two varieties of C. dactylon, they also state that it is "probably neither necessary nor feasible" to recognize infraspecific taxa. The species is here treated broadly.
- Habitat
- Lawns, gardens, roadsides, pastures, fields, sandy clearings, dunes, river shores and bars; often in dry or periodically droughty soils. Common throughout, except at higher elevations of the mountains.
- Native Status
- Introduced
