- A rather small, weak, spindly plant of boggy situations; this taxon is often confused with Dichanthelium lucidum, which occurs in similar habitats and is much more common. D. lucidum's densely papillose fertile lemma readily distinguishes the two.
- Habitat
- Bogs, sphagnous seeps, and wet sandy or peaty clearings. Infrequent in the Coastal Plain; rare in the s. Piedmont.
