- Comments
- In the Northeast, this species is part of an agamic, polyploid complex. Nevertheless, in our region Amelanchier laevis has a constant morphology and is rather easy to recognize.
Map incomplete at this time, due to the fact that this species was subsumed in A. arborea in previous hard-copy editions of the Atlas. - Habitat
- Mesic to dry upland forests and woodlands, high-elevation forests, balds, seepage swamps, and bogs; most frequent and numerous at middle to high elevations; primarily but not exclusively in moderately to extremely acidic, nutrient-poor soils. Frequent to common in the mountains; infrequent in the Piedmont (mostly in the inner and northern parts); rare in the Coastal Plain.
