- Habitat
- Moist fields, pastures, roadsides, river shores and bars, disturbed alluvial soils, dunes, interdune swales, and salt scrub; occasionally invasive in natural wetlands. Especially common in pastures where it competes well with other perennial species; not so much a weed of disturbed ground as other foxtail species. Common in the Coastal Plain; frequent in the Piedmont and mountains.
