- Dry woodlands, barrens, clearings, old fields, and roadsides over limestone, dolostone, metabasalt, and diabase; the habitat for two reported occurrences in the Coastal Plain (New Kent County and Hampton City) are not known, and the specimens need verification. Rare, mountains, Piedmont, and (allegedly) inner Coastal Plain.
