- VPI specimens annotated by Susana Neves, 2001, who monographed the genus. An article by Neves, Weakley, and Cox which chronicles the discovery of this species (reported as Bupleurum gerardii) in North America may be found in Castanea 74(4):424-433 (2009).

- Pastures and roadsides. Rare; recorded only from Giles County.
