- Habitat
- Dry-mesic to dry (occasionally mesic) upland forests and woodlands, primarily, but not exclusively, in moderately to strongly calcareous soils. Frequent in the mountains; infrequent in the Piedmont; rare and restricted to calcareous shell-marl slopes in the Coastal Plain.
